The Department of Sports gears up for Special Campaign 5.0, focusing on workplace cleanliness, e-waste management, and administrative efficiency.

New Delhi, September 20, 2025:
The Department of Sports, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, is gearing up to participate in Special Campaign 5.0, with a strong focus on enhancing workplace cleanliness and resolving pending administrative matters. Building on the success of Special Campaign 4.0, the Department is determined to set new benchmarks in responsible governance and sustainable management practices.
Focus on Responsible Management
Aligned with the provisions of the E-Waste Management Rules, 2022, the Department will prioritize the responsible management and scientific disposal of electronic waste, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
Achievements of Special Campaign 4.0
The groundwork for the upcoming campaign is inspired by the success of Special Campaign 4.0, which began with the spirited launch of the Fit India Swachhata Freedom Run 5.0 on October 2, 2024, at Major Dhyanchand Stadium. The event symbolically linked fitness with cleanliness, reflecting the essence of national pride.
During the campaign, the Department and its affiliated organizations - including the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), National Sports University (NSU), National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), and the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL) - achieved significant milestones:
-
Cleared 15 pending Member of Parliament references.
-
Resolved 30 public grievances.
-
Fulfilled two Parliamentary assurances, with active supervision from senior officials.
On-Ground Impact
As part of its cleanliness drive, the Department carried out activities at 44 identified sites, including headquarters and field offices of affiliated organizations. These efforts resulted in:
-
Reclaiming 12,000 square feet of space, much of which has now been repurposed into utility areas.
-
Generating Rs. 1,76,000 in revenue from scrap disposal, showcasing the Department's resourceful approach to sustainability.
The campaign also leveraged social media outreach, with 24 tweets posted across official handles using hashtags #SpecialCampaign4.0 and #SwachhBharat, amplifying awareness and public engagement.
Looking Ahead to Special Campaign 5.0
With these accomplishments as a foundation, the Department of Sports is fully prepared to execute Special Campaign 5.0 with enhanced effectiveness. The initiative will aim to establish higher standards in workplace cleanliness, administrative efficiency, and sustainable resource management, in line with the objectives set by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG).
