Bihar Police Announces Recruitment for 1,799 Sub-Inspector Posts in 2025

Patna, 26 September 2025 - The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has officially launched the recruitment drive for 1,799 Sub-Inspector (SI) positions in the Bihar Police Department. The online application process begins today and will remain open until 26 October 2025.

Application Fee:

• Rs. 100 for General / OBC / EWS / Other State candidates

• Rs. 100 for SC / ST candidates (Bihar residents only)

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit (as of 1 August 2025):

• Minimum: 20 years

• Maximum: 37 years for males, 40 years for females

Educational Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized university

Salary & Benefits

Selected Sub-Inspectors will receive a salary under Pay Level 6, ranging from Rs.35,400 to Rs.1,12,400 per month, along with applicable allowances and benefits as per Bihar government norms.

Physical Standards

• Height:

  • Male (General / OBC / others): 165 cm

  • Female (General / OBC / others): 155 cm

• Chest (Male only): 81-86 cm (expanded)

Running Requirements:

• Male: 1.6 km in 6 min 30 sec

• Female: 1 km in 6 minutes

Other Tests: High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put (Gola Fek), details available in the official notification.

Selection Process

1. Preliminary Exam - 100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours

2. Mains Exam - Two papers:

   • Paper I (General Hindi): 100 questions / 200 marks

   • Paper II (General Studies, Math, Science, Civics, Geography, History, Mental Ability): 100 questions / 200 marks

3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)

4. Document Verification

5. Medical Examination

Qualifying Marks:

• Minimum 36% in each paper

• Minimum 40% overall

• Negative marking applicable
